no, no, no, i mean the ipAd doesnt fit in ur pocket XD
but it can’t do half the things a slate can. Wanna know why?
its running full windows seven. So it can do everything a PC can, only less effectively (cuz you can’t put uber cpu’s/gpu’s/etc. in something this small) and the ipad can’t do much more then what an itouch can. So when you say better functionality, can you name 1 or 2 things the ipad can and itouch can’t?

@Parrotheader

wow, thats crazy, i’m glad i got the contract WHEW!
I am tempted to get the archos 9 still, it’s $550, and tax return is on it’s way already
WordWithCriss posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
@adonian you got your iphone with a contract, the iphone alone i believe runs between 600 to 800, i think thats the price when it first came out. its still no were near 200 without contract though
Parrotheader posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
@adonian Your iPhone was subsidized by the cost of your phone contract. If you bought it without a contract it would be $600. So yes, ~$800 is a very reasonable price for a device like this. Especially since this is a full-fledged computer and not just an smartphone-class device.

I love the “will cost as much as a mobile phone”… excuse the fuck out of me?!?! An $800+ mobile phone?! My iPhone was only $200.
I still want one, but only if it as cheap as a mobile phone

spencert94 posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
you should watch the keynote for it thats when i realized i actually wanted one. before i was disappointed, but while using my ipod touch i realized how nice it would be to have some of the features that the ipad has
BratPAQ posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
@spencert94 wow, comparing the iPad to HP slate? you must be a really delusional fanboy. i got 2 words for you “flash” and “multitasking”
Anton338 posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
ok well now THIS is a tablet!!
apple’s ipad can suck its dick!
quest8899 posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
i like how it has windows 7 built in and not a phone os like the ipad, it has the ability to play flash video

Why is everyone hung up on the keyboard? Either you want the mobility and convenience of smart touch or you want to sit down and type. If you want a keyboard, bluetooth technology allows you to hook up an ergonomic full size wireless keyboard (and mouse if you want it) and you start typing. If you want to take it with you and type, then what you really want is the smart touch QWERTY keyboard anyway, or else, hook up a more compact and portable keyboard once you get to your destination.

i dont think you know what a tablet pc is….

haha, like what?
ericown posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
just a touch screen laptop what so special
spencert94 posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
@philvia well yes that would easily beat out the hp slate in my opinion but that isn’t exactly what the ipad is it is much more than just a bigger ipod
spencert94 posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
well first of all the ipod definitely fits in my pocket so you must have really tiny pockets, and second the ipad may look like an oversized ipod touch but also has much more horse power and better functionality. and from the things I have seen of the hp slate lt simply looks like a smaller crappier ipad.
philvia posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
so you would rather have… what exactly? a larger ipod touch?
SuperBlueGiraffe posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
Yeah but the ipads got a different processor, it’s not just bumped up by 200mhz.
Anyway the slate does look pretty cool.
Roadkill263732 posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
ohyeah? well the ipad is an oversized ipod touch.. without a keyboard (just like an ipod that doesnt fit in ur pocket)
spencert94 posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
i would much rather have an ipad than the hp slate all it is a little crappy laptop with no keyboard
Ltkshaka posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
@chrisose dude the kid is obviously a faggot fan boy and he wants to get an ipad so he can use the calculator and put it away.
Smashingflies posted: 31 Jan at 11:38 pm
This thing was unveiled before apples crappy ipad. I’ll just stick with my Ipod Touch anyway going to buy a 3g soon that thing has a 800 mhz processor that’s almost as fast as the ipad (1ghz). I just don’t see the use of an ipad. It’s to slow to do the stuff i normally do on a desktop computer or laptop ( 3d models and presentations ) and and to big to fit in my pocket.
